About the Opportunity

Terris & Company is looking to hire multiple experienced Lead Carpenters to join our team in Vancouver, BC, on a full-time basis.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee day-to-day site operations, supervise trades and crew members, and ensure the successful delivery of high-end custom homes, heritage restorations, and commercial projects. Working closely with project managers, you will act as a gatekeeper for quality and safety while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Overseeing daily site operations and ensuring adherence to project plans, timelines, and quality standards
  • Coordinating and supervising trades, subcontractors, and on-site personnel
  • Leading and mentoring crews of 8-10, providing guidance and support on-site
  • Working hands-on with carpentry, framing, forming, cladding, and concrete tasks as needed
  • Ensuring compliance with BC Building Code, construction best practices, and safety regulations
  • Conducting site meetings, preparing daily reports, and monitoring project milestones
  • Managing site inventory, deliveries, and materials
  • Identifying and troubleshooting issues that could impact schedules or quality
  • Communicating effectively with project managers, architects, designers, clients, and other stakeholders

More About You

To qualify, you will need to be a Red Seal Carpenter and hold a valid BC Driver’s License with reliable transportation. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in custom home builds and/or residential renovations will also be essential. You must also supply your own set of tools suitable for on-site construction work.

The following skills and experience will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Proven portfolio of completed custom residential or commercial projects
  • Strong practical skills in forming, framing (including timber work), cladding, soffits, flashing, and concrete work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or Co-Construct
  • Deep knowledge of BC Building Code, construction practices, and safety regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications with accuracy
